Welcome to the 2015 12 Days of EdTech Cheer
To spread the holiday cheer this year, I wanted to share some ways of integrating technology into your curriculum with some different resources, tools, and methods that revolves around being a part of the Godfrey-Lee community (or this could be easily adapted to any other district or community). This will include a total of 12 days of fun things that you can do with your students to show your district pride using available resources to help you and your students implement your ideas. All ideas for the 12 Days of EdTech Cheer are presented up front to allow you ample planning time so that you can effectively use and implement the strategies, structures, tools, resources and methods presented (and participate in the challenge!).
Challenge
Please feel free to explore the resources and I encourage you to share how you have used it in your classroom. There is so much that we can learn from one another! I would be overjoyed if you take this 12-day journey with me and joined in by sharing what you learned at the end of the 12 days. Join the challenge by adding your web site, blog or wiki to the list on Day 1 so we can connect and follow along with you!
As educators, we have some so far in how we utilize technology in our classrooms. I can say that the 12 Days of EdTech Cheer has come a long way since 2010! I no longer want to focus on specific tools, but rather the content and let the tools fall into place. As you work through 1, 2, 5, or 12 days of the 12 Days of EdTech Cheer, use what is appropriate for your students in your classroom. One day might be technology-enriched, where others it may be simply used as a method of research for creating or implementing an idea. The key concept this year is CREATING - there is no right way or wrong way to create!
As part of documenting the 2015 12 Days of EdTech Cheer, we will be using Goose Chase to capture the fun that is going on throughout the district and have a little bit of a friendly building competition.
What is New This Year?
Every year, I like to change things up a little to keep the content, methods, and resources current. This year, the theme is:
"BE {GODFREY-LEE} AWESOME."
How can you take a basic idea and make it more awesome and relate it back to your school or the district? The goal is to think outside the box, create, and provide different instructional and learning opportunities for your students. EdTech Cheer this year will help you brainstorm and create some new ideas to keep things fun and fresh in your classroom!
